Brainspotting
Brainspotting (BSP) is a brain-based therapy discovered in 2003 by David Grand that supports the body with identifying and releasing neuro-physiological sources of trauma, mind/body pain, and other forms of psychological stress. Brainspotting helps clients release unprocessed trauma through accessing a “brain spot” using a client’s fixed eye position. BSP works deep within the limbic system which is the emotional center of the brain. It enhances the clinical relationship between the therapist and the client to support neuro-biological processing and release traumatic memories typically not available to the conscious mind where verbalization is possible.
Conditions Brainspotting Can Treat:
Most individuals who have experienced emotional or physical trauma can benefit from Brainspotting as a treatment modality. Some common challenges that BSP can treat are:
-
Trauma (all forms)
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
